Production operations solutions

Keep what your team learned when it solved the problem.

An engineer explains a failure in a chat, but the explanation is hard to find next time. Operate turns root causes into verified knowledge articles. Your team can edit, verify and manage them, and Operate can use them in later investigations.

    Why this takes time.

Source code often lacks documentation explaining why the product behaves a certain way. During incidents, engineers reconstruct that behavior and identify the cause, but the explanation can disappear into a chat thread. A new teammate or the next investigation then repeats the same work.

    What Operate needs to check.

Knowledge is useful when records capture the actual finding and supporting sources. Systems change; past fixes and assumptions need reassessment against the current implementation.

A known timeout pattern appears in another workflow

Illustrative example. Findings depend on connected systems and available evidence. Proposed changes require engineer review.

    Starting point

A new investigation encounters a gateway timeout and a retried operation.

    What the agent checks

    • Retrieve a related earlier timeout investigation.
    • Check current operation records rather than assuming failure.
    • Inspect today's retry and idempotency behavior.

    What the team receives

The root cause becomes a verified knowledge article with supporting evidence. The team can review it, edit the explanation, manually verify it and manage the library as the product changes. Future investigations can retrieve the relevant article.

    Finding

The earlier case suggests checking whether the first operation succeeded before the retry. Fresh records determine whether the same failure mode applies to the current workflow.

Prior lesson: timeout does not prove failure.Current check: verify operation records.Decision: assess fresh evidence before retrying.

Illustrative artifact. Review before applying changes.

Try a problem you have already solved.

Connect the systems used in a problem your team has already solved. Ask Operate to investigate it, then compare the answer with yours. Check the evidence and the suggested change before using it for more work.

    Explore the production workspace

    Which plan covers this?

Enterprise is $499 per workspace per month and includes shared knowledge, custom tools and custom agents, alongside Monitor capabilities. Managed adds contracted engineering work.

Bring your own key or model with no Operate token surcharge. Operate-managed AI usage is additional: $3.00 per million input tokens and $15.00 per million output tokens.

    Questions about production knowledge library.

Does retained knowledge replace fresh investigation?

No. A related case supplies context and a hypothesis to check. Current systems and evidence must support the new conclusion.

    Which plan includes shared knowledge?

Enterprise and Managed include the shared knowledge library. Free includes investigation history, which is distinct from shared knowledge reuse.

Is the knowledge library the same as training an AI model?

No. Retaining and retrieving cases is different from training a model. Consult deployment and model-provider policies when evaluating data handling.

Can our team edit and verify knowledge articles?

Yes. Operate generates verified articles automatically from root causes, and the team can also manually manage, edit and verify the knowledge library.
